CHICAGO – State Senator Javier Loera Cervantes released the following statement on the shooting at Mark Twain Elementary School:
“I am heartbroken by the tragic loss of life at Mark Twain Elementary School today. A school should always be a place of safety and community, which makes an act of violence within its walls especially devastating.
“My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones and the entire Mark Twain school community as they process this tragedy. I am grateful to the first responders and law enforcement officers who responded quickly to the scene, and I remain in contact with local officials as the investigation continues.
“Our community will stand together in the days ahead to support the families, staff and everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss.”
